Wanted to say a quick thank you to all who came out to the October 2008, Indy Webcomics Group meetup at Shallos on the south side. We had Me (Lee), Sam, Ed, Bob, Dan, and Wayne as usual. Kyle Latino also made it to the meetup, which I hope becomes a habit because I love his work. Wayne brought along some family with him this time. It was great to meet you Don and Courtney. And Daryl Pyle, local charicature artist and friend of our own Bob East, made his first appearance at one of our meetups. Was great to meet you Daryl, hope to see you again at the next one.

Anyone I’ve mentioned can respond to this post with a comment and include their website address. It’s too late for me to go reseraching and digging those up myself. Besides, most of you are already linked in our sidebar.

Check back Wednesday for the Jam Comic we all finished at the meetup.

In other news; Sam, Mike, Kyle and I participated in 24 Hour Comic Day as I posted about earlier. My friend Jeff Himes, who stopped by to show his support did a quick write-up about it here. I’ve added some pictures Jeff took of us working to the IWG photo album.

Hello again,

It seems we’re powerless to stop tradition. It’s now been over a year since our first cookout back in ought seven. A lot of things have changed, perhaps the date being the most obvious of them.

We had record turnout, just the right amount of food and good times. Unfortunately, we were all too busy to bother taking any pictures for the album. My most sincere apologies.
I can only assure you that punitive measures have been taken and those responsible have been punished to the full extent of the law. That law being that wherever people get together and have a party, some jerk is gonna take out his flip phone and start taking pictures. And if he doesn’t, the host of the party is required to go out back and cut a “switch” which is to be longer than his arm but no wider at the base than his thumb. So, thank you to everyone who made it. Old friends and new acquaintances. You’re welcome back anytime.

And now that it’s officially October, it behooves us to pick a date for our next Indy Webcomics Group meetup. October 19th or 26th look promising. What do you all think? October 25th may also be a good date since that is when the Next Panel Alternative Comics Expo is happening, in Urbana Illinois. We might be able to make this a group day-trip and drive out together. In that case it would count as our regular meetup for this month and we’d resume meeting up as usual in November.

Also, don’t forget Mid-Ohio Con is this weekend. I’m sure a few of us are planning on going. Perhaps we will see you there? It may happen!

Just a last reminder about the cookout this Sunday, September 21st at the home of Lee Cherolis and Samantha Allen. All of you better come out. Friends are indeed welcome. If you need the address again, I’ll be sending an email to go with this post. As I said before, food will be provided unless you would like something other than burgers brats and dogs, in which case please bring it along, I will be happy to cook it for you. Sunday looks to be clear, sunny 78 degrees. Perfect for grilling out.

In other news, my partner in crime Mike Mann and I have secured table space at Baltimore Comic Con, which is less than two weeks away. You can read about our preparations for the convention at the Modsprocket blog. There, we detail our process of starting a new comic book from scratch and promoting that comic in the world of self-publishing. Expect new Wulflorne content leading up to and following the convention.

That’s all from me, see you all Sunday!

Hello all!

Last Sunday’s meetup was absolutely fantastic. Had to be the most people we’ve had yet. The Broad Ripple Brew Pub was excellent for the meetup and gave us excellent drinks, provided we paid for them. We produced a pretty good Jam comic as well. You can see it above or by clicking here. Thanks to Dan Alexander for coming all the way out from Bloomington, we always have a blast. Was great to see Wayne, Bob and Ron who are solid regulars at these IWG meetups. Jeff Himes made it out to his second ever meetup. Keep it up Jeff I love having you at these things. Sam, especially since she’s in the middle of switching not only jobs, but whole careers, thank you for coming out. It was great to see Shane Johnson and Scott and Benita Story coming out to their first meetups ever. Welcome, and we hope to see you again at many more meetups. Was great to see Ed as well and thank you Ed for padding our turnout numbers by bringing your wife Nancy. I’m kidding, Nancy is a good friend and is always welcome. I don’t think I missed anybody. We had an awesome meetup and I can’t wait for the next one.

We also have new pictures from the meetup in our photo album you can find in the sidebar over on the right. Or you can click here. So, When can everyone get together again? Prime candidates for the next meetup date are either Sunday, September 14th or Sunday, September 21st. Which is better for everyone? And where do we want to hold it? South Side? West Side? Cookout? Pub? What do you want people?

And as for the meetup after that, there’s something cool happening in October:

Brought to our attention by Mr. Ed Cho, who I believe has a few friends of his involved with the event. It sounded like a few of you thought it might be fun to attend so we could make a trip to this show as our Meetup for October. All those in favor?

A few of us will also be attending Mid-Ohio Con which happens earlier that month so that’s also open for more to attend, carpool, have good time in Columbus.

That’s it for now,

Hello again from sunny Indiana. I hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July.
We’ve got an IWG meetup coming up this Sunday, July 13th at the Pawn Shop Pub on the north side. the PSP comes highly recommended. Directions here. Hope to see a bunch of people there. I’m really excited about it because I’ll have artwork with me from my newest projects to share. And by all means, we encourage artists to come weather they have something of their own to share or not. Bring a comic you just read that really captured your attention. Bring an old favorite. Or just bring your love of writing or drawing comics.

Our friend Ed Cho just attended Wizard World Chicago recently, as did Scott and Benita Story. You can read Scott’s writeup here. And I asked Ed to write up a quick blog post about Chicago that I’ll soon share here. If you like hearing about this sort of thing, a good friend of mine Chris Flick (creator of the webcomic: Capes N’ Babes) Recently attended Heroes Con over on the east coast. I’m sure he’ll post about the con sometime soon, it was his very first con appearance as an exhibiting professional. I know Chris isn’t an Indiana-based creator but give his comic a look anyway. He’s serious about his comic and it shows.

That’s all for now. Remember, Indy Webcomics Group Meetup is this weekend, July 13th, at the Pawn Shop Pub in Indianapolis.
See you there!

Thanks to Pat, Ed, Mike, Wayne, Bob, Lee and Sam for coming out for the June IWG meetup. We have no jam comic or pictures from this meetup, better luck next time. I did learn that we Indy Webcomicers are all huge movie buffs. This leads me to suggest we get together for a cookout for the next meetup and throw on a good flick we can all watch and talk about. Lets try the second Sunday in July for the next one. Who all can make it July 13th?

Hello IWG,

Thanks to Bob, Ed, and Sam for joining me at Old Point Tavern, Sunday night. And apologies to Jennifer who missed us at Old Point due to our incredible power to blend in with the crowd. We hope you’ll come out next time, and we’ll all wear hilarious hats so you’ll be able to find us.

Well, you all don’t have to but I’m gonna.

You can see pictures of our meetup by clicking on the above preview image. Thanks to Ed for bringing a camera. Old Point was great, as was expected. It was a beautiful day and there were a lot of people taking advantage of the nice weather.

We did get a jam comic strip completed. I’ll be posting it here, very soon. It’d be up by now but this seemingly harmless comic strip which started off being about discount shoes, ended up a horrifically racist train wreck of a comic. I begged and pleaded with each cartoonist as they worked on their additions to the strip, to please clean it up and save this strip from potential scandal and indecency. And each one, in turn, laughed in my face and pushed this totally innocent comic strip further into awful political incorrectness with each pencil stroke. There was nothing I could do. But Ed’s Asian and he said it was okay, so I’m posting it.

God help us.

~Lee
