Archive for August, 2007
Based on e-mail feedback, we’ll get the most people if we meet on the 26th of August. So lets go ahead and mark our calendars for that evening. The last meeting worked out really well when we met for dinner and then continued the meeting afterwards. Plan on 6pm for dinner and continuing the meeting for the next few hours.
Lets go with either the Claddagh on 96th street or Old Point Tavern on Mass Ave and Vermont. Several people have suggested both. I like Old Point just to try someplace I’ve never been. However, I know the foods good at the Claddagh.
Anyone have anything to add? I’ll send out another e-mail by the end of the week to announce the place and time.
Taking a moment to announce I’ll be at Wizard World Chicago comic convention this weekend Thursday through Sunday at the Rosemont Convention Center. I’ll be at the Biscuit Press Table in Artist Alley with Sam and Alex. Among the items available at our table will be the 2007 open invite anthology Small Town/Big City by Young American Comics, featureing a 6-page short my me. There will also be a short 44 page compilation of Biscuit Press comics I put together for the con.
I mentioned before that I’m free for an August meet-up the weekend of the 17th or the weekend of the 24th. When is everyone else available? I think we should take Wayne’s suggestions and each bring in something of our own make that we’re proud of and something we found of someone else’s that we’d like to share. We also need suggestions on where to meet this time.
Welcome to Darren who found our community through Wayne. Darren Strecker has been in the poster design business for over 10 years. Hope to see you at the next meet-up, and thanks for the heads up on that Dappled Cities/Tokyo Police Club show, it rocked!
Welcome also to Edward Cho, who was also alerted by Wayne about our community. hopefully Ed can introduce himself better than I can. I look forward to meeting you at the mext meet-up.
Kyle Latino will also, I hope, be able to introduce himself at the next meeting. Kyle’s another Indy artist that I’ve been in contact with and you might have seen commenting on the blog.
If there’s anyone else who has e-mailed me recently but I’ve forgotten to mention please leave a comment below and let the others know you’re there! This next meet-up will certainly be the one to attend, with so many new people eager to participate. If we plan it ahead, it’ll really be something special.
That’s all for now I think. Lets plan the next meeting.
