Archive for October, 2008
I said before, the Jam comic from last Sunday would go up Wednesday, and I was scanning it in when I had a crisis of conscience. And based on some good advice from various sources I decided not to post this one. Next time definitely, I just didn’t feel this Jam comic was in entirely good taste, including the parts I worked on.
Instead I was inspired and sketched up the presidential portraits posted here. Instead of posting our Jam comic, I’m opening it up to anyone who wants to, to chime in on the comments section to share their own Election themed art. Lets see them!
Just to keep it civil, try to keep it as neutral as you can. I’m interested in beautiful artwork, not divisive or controversial propaganda.
This is partly inspired by Ming’s idea of the Mini Comic Con. Where he invited the comic-creating public to chime in on his comments section to plug their own work every 3 weeks. However, the invitation on our site is a one time event. Let’s see some links to some great artwork!
UPDATE: Thanks to everyone for posting! You can see their work in the comments here.
Wanted to say a quick thank you to all who came out to the October 2008, Indy Webcomics Group meetup at Shallos on the south side. We had Me (Lee), Sam, Ed, Bob, Dan, and Wayne as usual. Kyle Latino also made it to the meetup, which I hope becomes a habit because I love his work. Wayne brought along some family with him this time. It was great to meet you Don and Courtney. And Daryl Pyle, local charicature artist and friend of our own Bob East, made his first appearance at one of our meetups. Was great to meet you Daryl, hope to see you again at the next one.
Anyone I’ve mentioned can respond to this post with a comment and include their website address. It’s too late for me to go reseraching and digging those up myself. Besides, most of you are already linked in our sidebar.
Check back Wednesday for the Jam Comic we all finished at the meetup.
In other news; Sam, Mike, Kyle and I participated in 24 Hour Comic Day as I posted about earlier. My friend Jeff Himes, who stopped by to show his support did a quick write-up about it here. I’ve added some pictures Jeff took of us working to the IWG photo album. Check ‘em out!
This Saturday, October 18th is 24 Hour Comics Day. Check the official 24HCD website for rules and guidelines of the challenge here.
The Indy Webcomics Group would like to invite you out for a full day of making comics, by participating in the event. We’ll be holding our 24HCD get together at the home of Mike Rittenhouse. Email Mike at email@example.com for directions, (address not posted for privacy reasons). Snacks provided, but feel free to bring your own, and don’t forget the energy drinks!
We start Saturday the 18th at noon and will continue until noon on Sunday, or until we all give up and wimp out. Wish us luck!
Also, the October Indy Webcomics Group meetup will be Sunday, October 26th at Shallos on the southside. Usual meetup time of 6pm. Hope to see you all there!
